Photo walk around Lanškroun train station

Note: This text was written in 2009

Some basic facts for the start. Lanškroun train station is a terminus of the Česká Třebová - Lanškroun branch line (timetable line no. 272, service record line no. 314). The line itself however branches out of the line 270 at Rudoltice v Čechách station, where you can also find its 0 km marker. The service on this 4,5 km long branch line started in 1885. It was originally branched out directly from the line 270, but the branching was later moved to the Rudoltice v Čechách station. As on any other branch line at that time, there originally was an engine shed with water tower in Lanškroun too, but it was demolished long time ago. Nowadays the line is operated according to the D3 rules, with the dispatcher being stationed in Třebovice v Čechách.

Let us start our walk at the entry to the station, at the first point in the direction towards the station (no. 9 in the track layout scheme) located at 3.949 km. The first photo shows this point and the ACHP (agrochemical company) siding with derailer.

Derailer in detail.

View towards Rudoltice, ACHP siding disappears behind the company's gate.

Point no. 8 is located almost at the railway crossing...

...from where we can see the whole station.

Right after the crossing we can see the older derailer type, fixed at the track no. 6.

Old derailer from the other side.

View of the station from the parking lot next to the crossing.

And the view of the end of the tracks 4 and 6 from across the tracks. Originally there was the engine shed with water tower, now long gone.

Once more, more detailed view.

Derailer no. 4 securing the Tesla company siding and loading track no. 5.

Point no. 3, where Tesla siding branches out of the track no. 5. We will return to this place later.

View from the platform.

Platform next to the track no. 3 is directly connected to the walking area around the station building, platform at track no. 1 is made of concrete blocks and gravel.

Running track no. 3 is terminated by a signal and continues as a loading track, secured by a derailer. There were multiple Eas-u freight cars parked at the loading track no. 2.

Derailer no. 1 at track no. 3, loading ramp gradually rises behind this point.

View of the end of the line from the ramp.

Point no. 2, from where the ZZN (grain purchase company) sidings branches out.

"Industrial" part of the station.

Coal unloading machine.

Winch for moving cars next to the ZZN siding.

And right next to the point no. 2 some kind of a (un)loading machine with conveyor belt (ZZN siding).

At the and of the track no. 3 is another ramp, this time a front one.

Once more in more detail.

Almost at the end of the track no. 1 is also a profile checking gate.

And finally, this is the end of the line at km 4,408.

View of the station from the point no. 1 almost at the end of the line.

And finally the return to the point no. 3, as promised. Tesla company siding branches out from there.

The siding goes across the street and disappears behind the factory gate. There should be a derailer somewhere behind the gate.

Track no. 5 continues parallel to the factory fence and access road to the station...

...and ends just before the crossing of the access road and another street. If by some accident a car went through the end of the track, it would most likely end up in someone's garage. :)

And finally, a photo with a train. During my walk, a passenger train arrived from Rudoltice -- class 810 railcar no. 810.056 named Věruška.
